Test Strategy - Skipping questions

The GAMSAT covers a huge range of material. A lot of that material, you will find, you will not have covered. Other material has sufficient information in the prompt but the prompt covers two pages.

In this case, I suggest you skip the question. There are many more questions for you to try and you can often complete 80% of the test in 2/3rds of the test time on first pass. You're not trying to answer each individual question - you're trying to answer every question with as many right as possible, and you can't do that if you are wasting all your time on that tricky org chem question.

Make a note of the question (I like to leave a light dash next to the question number on the answer sheet) so you know where to come back to it later. If you are half-sure of the answer, put the light dash and fill in the answer - if you have time, you then know which questions to come back to.

Also make a note of any work you have done in the answer booklet. If you have ruled out one reponse, cross it out so you don't waste time reconsidering it when you come back to the question.

Remember - get the first 80% down on paper, then worry about the questions that take more time to work out.
